Odd Incident

I'm not particularly familiar with eye gazing / soul gazing but my friend told me a bit about it and it sounded interested. So I told a girl a bit about. She wanted to try.

So We are sitting on a bed with some other people around us watching. I have my hands facing up and hers are in mine. I tell her to look at my left while I look at her left. I notice her pupils becoming VERY dilated and so are mine. We do this for about 10-15 seconds. And she stops and is freaked out. Something happened, I felt a bit weird too, like I was slipping.

I then had a panic attack with a lot of nervousness / anxiety.

Do you know anything about this?
Thanks

Yes I do have an idea what happened.

A couple of things come to mind. First it sounds like you weren't well anchored in yourself. You probably threw all your energy into each other or maybe just you into her. She may have let you in and the energy felt overwhelming.

Eye gazing is an incredibly intimate act. If you throw your energy around wantonly it will hurt someone. Many people who have difficulty with intimacy have a very strong reaction to eye gazing especially if the energy is moved around too fast.

When you're eye gazing with someone always invite them out first, never invade. You can only put your energy into someone if they invite it otherwise you're invading and overwhelming them without their permission.

Read some of the other threads in this tribe for more discussion about how that works.

It felt very 'unreal' - so this kind of response wasn't odd of the normal based on the criteria (that being we didn't know each other well, what we were doing, or how to control, etc etc).

Thanks so much for your response.

Ps, I'm a hypnotist, NLP practitioner, magick practitioner, tantrika, etc. "unreal" experiences are quite common in this area. If you're interested in continuing to explore this, then do. Your highest authority should probably be your own feelings around any experiences you have. What does it seem like happened to you? And what would you guess might be good to try next?

I would use different words, but essentially, I agree.

It sounds as though you were both aiming for a mutually intimate activity, but got there much, much faster and much more thoroughly than either of you was expecting. Try more grounding. Try shorter duration attempts. Or just do it again, let things break, and then briefly discuss your experiences before trying again.

    ..knowing yourself

You are probably the best judge as to what happened..

what you observe as "out there" can be like a mirror as to what is going on inside you.. your long term and short term needs.. your thoughts about what you "should" expect..what you should not.. etc..

    the same with your friend..

..the people around you can influence your memory of what just happened..if your friend act passively like she was bored.. then you may not be as excited.. if she where to laugh.. you may see the experience as fun and funny..
..if she cried afterwards.. you may not think of it as fun and funny..

there are many dimentions to an event..

and words you described add yet another layer of interpretation..

so your friends and you are best position to tell what happened in each one of you..

pupils often get dilated with lack of light but also..with relaxation..

..over all ..it sounds like another area for self discovery.... cheers!

    Hi Mata,
The sensation you felt was the Ego letting go of its grip on your awareness. This can be quite disconcerting at first since we are used to the Ego's complete control. Eye-gazing/Soul-gazing takes one beyond Ego and into the "mythic" realm of spirit where we connect soul-to-soul, seeing each other as "mythic-divines." This divine recognition feeds our psyche archetypal energies that nourish the soul, increasing our sense of well-being and expanding our consciousness.

...all from meeting each one eye-to-eye in equanimity and love, Imagine that!
